chess anyone?

i think ive played chess maybe once in my life...before today. in art, as kind of our "big" project towards the end of the year, we were to make a chess set and board. we could have one partner but we were each responsible for a side. me and my friend kali, decided to do a beach-y and underwater theme; one side complete with a mermaid (and merman!) and undersea creatures and treasures- the other with beach goers and beach "icons". today we were able to play in class and then take them home. i proceeded to fail and understanding the game, but had fun. :)
